To the doctor's...again

Took a trip to the pediatrician this morning. We kept Megan home from church yesterday because of a cough and slight fever. Turns out, she also has an ear infection. Poor baby. Got a prescription filled for her...so, she should be feeling much better pretty quickly. Yesterday, all Megan wanted to do was sit on my lap - which was nice! She's not usually much of a cuddler. Already today, though, she seems happy to run around and play. Not that I want her sick, but it was nice to have her be cuddly for once!

Listening to Grandpa P read a story...she is so serious! :-)

After testing out the baby's carseat, Megan deemed it safe to be used. Ben put it in the jeep this past weekend. One more item to check off the list! I also got all of the baby's clothes in his new dresser and sheets on the pack n' play! We're getting closer! Only 3 1/2 weeks (or less!) to go! Hard to believe, isn't it?!

*Speaking of list checking, those of you on my blog update list will be getting an email from Stacey WHENEVER the baby is born. Since she has a blog and knows how to use blogger, I asked her to post the baby's stats on here once he's arrived, so you all don't have to wait days until I'm home from the hospital. If you DON'T want her to have your email, please let me know, so I don't send it to her!*
Hope you all have a great week!

18-Month Doctor's Visit

Megan had her 18 month well-baby visit today. As soon as we stepped into the exam room, she began to panic and cling to me. I've been trying to teach her to jump - which she loves to attempt, but her feet have never yet left the ground. Well, today, as soon as I tried to leave her on the scale/table...Megan scrambled to her feet, running and screaming, while the nurse is trying to read the jiggly scale...and leapt off of the table into my arms. Ok, maybe that doesn't really count as her first real jump, but it made me laugh.

As soon as we finished with each step of her appointment (including her shots), the nurse and I would say "All done!" and Megan, with tears in her eyes and quivering lip, would begin to clap. She was just cracking us up...even though I think I have bruises on my arms from Megan trying to grab and hold onto me so tightly!

Since her 15 month appointment, Megan grew a whole inch: now 28 1/2 inches and gained 12 ounces: now 18 pounds, 12 ounces. Megan's pediatrician told me that she is below the 5th percentile for all measurements, but (once again) that she is petite but continuing in upward growth as she should. He is very kind and always tells me the "petite" line in a don't-worry kind of way...even though I've never been concerned about that percentile stuff. Who cares, really?? As long as my child is growing and healthy, does it matter? True, I'm no doctor, but Megan seems pretty active and healthy and normal to me...? :-)

Megan's lungs are certainly healthy! She got 2 shots today...but, they're the last she'll get until she's 4!! Yay! As with her 15 month appointment, I don't think the shots bothered her too much -- it was being held down on the table that terrified her! Now we get to start the whole process over with baby boy!! Megan won't have to endure shots for a few more years, but she'll get to come and watch her baby brother...oh dear. I'm beginning to think doctor's visits are not going to be joyous occasions.

I'll leave you with a few pictures...

Have a great week!

Pictures and a doctor's appointment

Hasn't been too much exciting to blog about this past week. Megan greatly enjoyed helping daddy put together the baby's dresser last weekend. She did really well and wasn't in the way...too much! :-) Ben enjoyed having Megan's help probably more than she enjoyed "helping."

The dresser was successfully put together and finangled into Megan's room. I guess I will soon have to start calling it "the kids'" room or "their" room! Megan and her baby brother will need to share until we figure out an alternative!

I had another ultrasound and doctor's appointment today. Everything looks good. Our baby boy is measuring right where he should! My OB penciled my c-section in for Friday, February 22. We're excited to have an "official" end in sight (unless, like with Megan, I go into labor before)! Fridays are my OB's OR day, so I won't have a surgery time until who knows when - probably not until the day before! Any case more "important" than me gets to go first! I'd love to be first in line for the day...but, no guarantees! That's ok...at least I know I won't have to go any longer than the 2nd to last Friday in February before we can meet our little boy...and I can eat some SWEETS! :-)

A few final pictures for you - Megan coloring:

A dreary day...

Today is a very GRAY day. Cold and rainy... good day to take a nap! I think I will when Megan goes down after lunch!

Yesterday, I sorted through what boy clothes I have and got the carseat all ready. Put the clean cover back on and put the straps through the right slots... the time is approaching quicker than I realize! I'm really getting excited to meet this little guy and see him in all those cute sleepers now awaiting the laundry!

My "to do" and "to get" lists still seem long, but, I know everything will all fall into place. This weekend, Ben is planning to put together the new dresser we got for the baby. We'll have to do a slight rearrangement of some furniture in Megan's room. Once the dresser is in with clean baby clothes in the drawer - one more thing I'll be able to check off of my lists!

Here are 2 pictures of Megan from the other day. The temperature was in the 60's and she was waiting for me to go out and get the mail. As I was putting on my sneakers, she stepped into daddy's shoes and kept waving and saying "buh-bye!" (And, no...she isn't drinking coke! She knows how to get into the box and loves to walk around with cans...)

Have a good weekend!

Christmas continued...

Grandpa and Grandma W came for a visit this past weekend. They were also here to celebrate a late Christmas with Megan. We all had a very fun time - once Megan warmed up a bit! It was a little overwhelming at first to have a living room full of packages, and I think she was a bit unsure of what to do. Megan was her charming self on Saturday and fully entertained both Grandpa and Grandma. She especially loves to show off for both of her grandpas! Whenever they cough, she "coughs" right back...and giggles. So, there always seems to be a "cough competition" whenever the grandfathers are around! :-) Now for some pictures!

Here's Megan with her favorite bunny:

A shopping basket (or hat!) that came with a shopping cart:

Here's one of our "cough, cough, giggle" times!

A stroller for Megan's baby doll from Uncle Andy and Aunt Stacey:

A shopping cart, complete with basket and food...

Megan also got some pretty clothes for the summer from Uncle Mike and Aunt Leah, and some books and a Blue's Clues dvd from her cousins, Caleb, Josiah, and Micah. It's about time for us to add on a playroom...or move! Our 800 square feet seems to get smaller and smaller each day...and, the new baby hasn't even arrived yet!!
*Tricia, so glad to see your comment!! I hope you and your family are doing well!! Drop me an email if you can!*

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We rang in the New Year...snoring! :-) I don't think we've stayed up past midnight on New Year's Eve...ever? We probably have once, maybe twice, but, we'd rather go to sleep. Seems like the New Year came in on its own just fine without our active participation!

Ben got out of work a little early today and our plans mainly consist of our annual tradition: watching the Honeymooners' marathon that airs every New Years on one of our tv channels. Ralph Cramden reminds us of a dear family member...and, we laugh through every episode! We love you, dear family member! :-)

Here's a picture I took of Megan earlier today. Just a goofy, toothy grin...she was giggling because she gave mama Mickey Mouse ears....and, mama put them on.

Happy New Year!
