Megan's Birthday Wishes...

What I did on Saturday morning...

I woke up in my new-to-me rubber ducky jammies (thank you, Mrs. Stewart!) and played on mama and daddy's bed...

Then, after breakfast, I helped daddy with loads and loads of laundry (my job was to close the dryer door and then ride upstairs in the baskets)...

Then (*new video*) daddy gave me a grunt call that he never uses. I began to learn what I will need to do to help daddy in his future hunting ventures. Daddy thinks I'm a natural!

Doctor's appointment

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and all is well. It took much longer than usual, because there was a wait for the only ultrasound room, and that's the only way my doctor can check the stitch. Yesterday, I got another unexpected peek at the baby, too! Again, my doctor had a difficult time finding the heartbeat. Not sure why - it shouldn't be hard to find at this stage (the doctor seemed a bit frustrated, too). I'm hoping this isn't a future indication of our next child's temperment or personality (ie, difficult!!) I'm thinking that our baby just knows how much his/her mama needs to see him/her! By this time in Megan's pregnancy, I'd already had at least 3 involved ultrasounds complete with a video to watch again at home!! I'm feeling deprived this time! It could still be called a disappointing ultrasound to some...it's not the best machine and my doctor didn't take much time to look around. Just checked the heartbeat -- and, we got to see the skeletal face. But, for me, it's better than nothing! :-)

I'm scheduled for a "real" ultrasound in 3 weeks. I have to go to another part of the hospital where there is a more updated machine. This is when they'll check and measure all of the baby's organs. As ornery as this baby has been so far (in hiding his/her heartbeat from us), I have a feeling he/she might be shy (hm, difficult, rather!) about letting us know whether they are a boy or girl! We'll just have to wait and see! Either way, I hope to get a good picture of the face or feet to post here on the blog.

Speaking of pictures, none to share today. Just wanted to post about my appointment.

Happy Friday!

All by myself!

I came out of the bathroom yesterday, looking for Megan in the living room. Didn't see her right in front of me!! She'd climbed onto the couch all by herself and was grinning proudly at me! She can even get down by herself, although a bit clumsily! I thought I had to watch her closely before...well, now...!! At least our bed is still too high for her to manuever.

*New Video* Megan amused us for a good 10 minutes by putting her cup on the end table...turning around...then, turning back to her cup, giving it a shake, putting it back on the end table...turning around...turning back to her cup...you get the picture! :-) (We're easily amused by anything she does! lol!)

Another year goes by...

...and, I feel the same as I did yesterday! Today was my 30th birthday. No surprise party, no fanfare...just the way I like it! Seriously, neither Ben nor I are party people! We did just what I wanted to do (even though it may sound very unexciting to you):

Ben and Megan took me out for lunch on Saturday, and we spent most of the day driving around looking at used cars. No fish fry...didn't feel like one anymore! :-) Had steak instead...which was very yummy. I'll probably feel like fish tomorrow! LOL!

Thank you to all of you who sent e-cards, real cards, phone calls, and other means of birthday wishes! (If you forgot to send a gift, my laptop still hasn't been purchased... lolol! :-)

No one needs a picture of me on my birthday...maybe I'll grace you with one when I turn 40. Oh wait...I think I have a cd somewhere...ah yes! Here are 2 pictures from my real BIRTHday!

(Nope!! Megan looks nothing like me!! She still doesn't even have that much hair!!)

Always helping mama...

After you take ALL of the diapers out of their basket and dump them in a pile in the hallway, it's always fun to pick them back up one by one and take them BACK to their basket! All without being asked!! :-) It's so much fun that way!! (When mama tries to teach me to pick up my toys...well, that's not as fun, and I haven't quite gotten the hang of that yet!)

*Side note* Mama says she just started feeling the baby move this last week. Movements are few and far between for now...but, she says she's felt it! Just thought some of you would like to know!

Fall is here...

We had to click on our heat to take the morning chill off yesterday for the first time. Summer is gone...fall is here! The mornings and evenings are brrrr cold, but the days are pretty nice. While getting ready for church, I had an urge for cider and donuts! The smell and sound of the heat coming on and the chill in the air just meant there should be cider in the fridge! Of course, there wasn't...but, I'm excited because it's that time of year to pick up a gallon next time Ben or I are in the store! I just loove cider! Wish it was available all year long!!

I said "urge" for cider and donuts, because it wasn't a craving. Believe me, I can tell the difference! When pregnant with Joshua, I craved Chi Chi's chimichangas, Pizza Hut pizza, and REAL coke with ice! With Megan, it was Burger King whoppers and slushies! (Good Megan craving story -- we live too far away from anything for local delivery. I guess that's a good thing, really, or I'd be racking up a bill when pregnant! Anyway, I NEEDED a slushy...for weeks! I finally got one at a gas station and was sorely disappointed. The machine must've been broken -- there was no slush! That night, or days later, I can't remember...Ben was half-asleep and I kept going on and on about needing-wanting-needing-MUST HAVE a slushy!!! Ben finally got out of bed and went to the kitchen, and I heard a lot of banging going on. (I was quite sure he was tired of my whining!) He came back with a cup 1/4 full of some smooshed up freeze-pops! Honestly, it was the BEST slushy I'd ever had...and, my craving was fulfilled! What a great guy! :-) I think he just wanted some sleep...lolol! )

Well, last night as we were leaving church, I asked Ben if we could stop somewhere to get some ice. He looked at me with a what-do-we-need-ice-for look (we never buy ice). Sheepishly, I finally said, "I NEED some Sierra Mist with ice and a straw (a cup with a lid would be nice, too)!" He just rolled his eyes and laughed. We got some ice.

As soon as I could get Megan in bed, I filled a cup with ice, poured in Sierra Mist (NOT 7up, NOT Sprite, NOT ginger ale...must be SIERRA MIST), plopped in a straw....aaahhhh - bliss!!! JUST what I wanted!! It was sooo yummy! We have plenty of ice now, too, so I can't wait to have another glass today! What a silly pregnant woman! I'm also craving a fish fry! Oooh, that sounds soo good!! I told Ben he could bring me home some for my birthday dinner next week. But, I told him he'd better check again before he does...cravings can be very fickle! By next week, I'll be wanting tacos or pizza or chinese! (For my friends in this area, anyone know of a place that makes a good fish fry? I think the last time I had a fish fry was 5 years ago at my parents!!! See how weird cravings are?!!! I rarely eat fish!) At least my cravings are half-normal foods...no strange food combos....yet!

Ok, here are some pictures...what you really want, rather than reading my ramblings, right?! Here's what I see from my perch on the couch. Megan sits in her toy box (still full of toys - foam blocks specifically, mind you!) and plays with the other toys around her.

Ooh, look! A dryer sheet!

Grandpa and Grandma P got Megan a swing for her birthday, and Ben finally found the right hardware to hang it. Megan looves to swing! Especially when daddy's pushing her...he can make her just giggle and giggle!

Okay! That's probably all for this week! No doctor's appointment, so Megan and I can stay home and I can continue to leave an impression in the couch! :-) Megan has been so good and even likes to cuddle with me on the couch. We try to watch Blue's Clues together every morning. The "mail" song makes her giggle. It's amazing to me what catches a baby's interest. She ignores the tv unless Blue's Clues comes on...or, I put in a Baby Einstein dvd. Two things I can tolerate!

Have a good week...don't forget -- fish fry places, anyone?! :-)

Done...and well...Well done?!

I thank the Lord for the way He answers our prayers. My cerclage went well yesterday. It was much different than Megan's. The IV went in the first time...I didn't jump when the spinal was given...and, I couldn't even tell they were doing anything (last time, I felt yanked all over the operating table).

The only thing that wasn't so great...was, I shivered/shook uncontrollably for over an hour. Starting half-way through the surgery and into recovery. I'm not sure if it was the cold operating room or the anesthesia. Either way, my jaw and shoulders hurt so badly from being so tensed up with the shaking. I TRIED everything I could to relax and try to get warm...but, nothing worked. They even had this plastic blanket/air mattress looking thing on me that had warm air being blown into it, that didn't even help.

Anyway, today I'm mostly sore from the shivering. No cramping or other discomfort. MUCH different than Megan's stitch!

After the surgery, my doctor came into to listen to the baby's heartbeat. He had a very difficult time finding it...so, told me that he was going to do an ultrasound before I left. When he put the wand on my belly, he looked very confused and kept searching. Let's just say that coming in at 8 am and the time is now 1 pm, with 1 1/2 bags of IV fluid and an 8 oz can of ginger ale post-surgery...my bladder was FULL! With a spinal, though, the nurse told me that your bladder is the last thing to wake up...so, I didn't feel that it was full. Anyway, my bladder was soooo FULL that it had pushed the baby above and to the right of my belly button -- almost in my SIDE! At 14/15 wks, a baby should be below your belly button...and, somewhere in the center of your belly.

So, we eventually found the baby in a place where he/she shouldn't be...but, everything was fine. I loved that Ben got to see the baby! The baby waved at us and we saw his/her little legs and feet moving all over.

So, all went well. I'm taking it really easy this weekend. All Megan-lifting duties are relagated to my mom and Ben.

Megan had fun with Grandma W this weekend. I'm so glad my mom could come. Usually, visits with my parents are so busy that it seems like they didn't even get to spend time with their granddaughter. Mom really got to enjoy Megan and see the things she does. Thank you, mom!

Here are some pictures of Megan from yesterday and this morning.

Never going to keep up!!!

Sorry, I'm never going to remember to post weekly baby development updates!! I just realized I turned 14 wks on Sunday...hm, it's already Wednesday! lol! Oh, well! It's time to post the 15 wk one...! Actually, the ticker does a pretty good job and almost mimics what babycenter says. If it's ever different...I'll post. Ugh! I knew it'd be difficult for me to keep up with that!

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. Nothing to report...I just get weighed and blood pressured. And, we listened to the heartbeat...which sounded great. I never ask my weight...I really don't want to know, don't care. I figure if I'm gaining too much or too little, my doctor will tell me. As for my blood pressure, I always ask...but, didn't yesterday, because Megan was screaming. She was not happy that someone was touching me. So...I wondered if it was sky-high struggling to calm her! :-) However, yesterday was also considered a pre-op visit for my cerclage. So, I had to go to pre-admissions and got my blood pressure taken again. It was 117/76...my normal. Good!

My cerclage has been scheduled for this coming Friday morning. I can't believe it's that time already! I'll be glad when it's all over. My mom is going to come for the weekend to make sure I behave... (Right, mom?!) :-)

My mom is a busy woman right now... she's also helping out Stacey. *Please pray for Stacey and the baby...on Monday, she got put on strict bedrest for the rest of her pregnancy. There appears to be a weak spot in her placenta, which then risks tearing if she's not careful. I'm having a hard time being good with Megan to run after...Stacey has TWO rambunctious boys!! I know it isn't easy for her to let others do her mommy-jobs! Stacey is 30 weeks pregnant...so, has at least 8 more weeks to go, if possible!! So, please keep her and our baby nephew in your prayers! Pray for health and safety for them both. Andy, Caleb, and Josiah would probably appreciate prayers for them as well! It's going to be an adjustment for all of them.*

Sorry, no good pictures to share today. I am posting a new video, though. Megan was "popping" her cheek, and thought she was so funny. When I got out the camera, she didn't "pop" anymore...just grinned at me. Enjoy, anyway...Grandpa W hinted that he needed a new video. :-) You may be able to hear her say "kitty" if you listen...

We're having some septic issues...fun, fun. Here are some pictures of a friend helping dig up our drywell. Tomorrow or Friday, he'll be here again to fix it for us...we hope!!
